Full powder coated refurbishments

Powder coating alloy wheels gives a shield protection against corrosion, weather your refurbishing your damaged wheels or just changing the colour to your desired look. The durable technique using heat and electrolysis process, whereby, the metal object is positively charged for the powder to be attracted to its surface and bond. Process includes: Removal of tyres, weights and valves. Chemically strip the alloy back to its bare aluminium. Corrosion and damage repair. Shot blasted. Primed & Powder coated the colour of your choice. Finish with gloss, satin or matt. Quality assurance check then tyres, weights and valves refit.

Full diamond cut refurbishments

As luxury cars become more popular most vehicles now leave show rooms with diamond cut finished wheels, this is where the alloy is powder coated and then put onto a CNC diamond cutting machine which removes a small layer off the alloy leaving the aluminium showing on the face giving a two tone wheel. Process includes: Remove tyres, weights & valves. Chemically strip the alloy. Corrosion and damage repair. Shot blast. Prime & Powder coat the colour of your choice. Diamond cut in house on our CNC machine. Lacquer with gloss, satin or matt. Quality assurance check then tyres, refit and balanced.

Split Rims

Split rim alloys can be identified by the numerous screws/bolts that run around on the inner part of the outer edge holding the two pieced together. In most cases the outer edge will be polished, and the centre colour coated. These types of wheels can take longer due to the time splitting them down.

RS Wheel Refurbishment Process:

  • A free no-obligation quote is provided. To help with this you can send us pictures of your wheels, especially any damaged bits or scuffs, along with a small description of what you would like for example gloss black, so we can assess the best solution for you. We offer full refurbishments or smart repairs. At this stage, a team member will also talk to you about our current turnaround times and book you a slot

  • Smart repair. 
  • Collection and delivery (available on request) or you can visit our Sheffield workshop.
  • Wheels removed from vehicle
  • Tyre popped off bead
  • Removal of damage
  • Prep the face of the alloy
  • Repaint and relacquer the face
  • Quality assurance checked tyre refit
  • Alloys put back onto the vehicle

  •  Full refurbishment. 
  • Collection and delivery (available on request) or you can visit our Sheffield workshop.
  • Loans wheels fitted free of charge if you are having a full wheel refurbishment on all four of your wheels*.
  • Wheels are removed from the vehicle and tyres, weights and valves are removed too.
  •  Alloys are dipped into a chemical stripping bath to remove all current paint, dirt and grime bringing the alloy back to the bare aluminium.
  •  After chemical stripping, the wheels are washed and put into the preparation system where all corrosion and damage is repaired and treated and then the alloys are shot blasted to ensure the alloy is clean again.
  •  Next, the wheels go through a comprehensive three-coat oven process. This includes both powder and water-based products that are applied to ensure the perfect colour is achieved - which can be back to the manufacturers colour coding, one of our standard colours or a striking custom colour of your choice.
  • If your alloys are having a CNC diamond cut finish at this stage is where your alloy will be placed on to our in-house lathe
  • Alloys are then lacquered to a finish of your choice, this could be high-gloss, satin or matt finish.
  • All our wheels are quality assurance checked by an experienced team member before your tyres are re-fitted, balanced and refitted to your vehicle (if applicable).

*Free loan wheels when having a full refurbishment, if loan wheels are damaged (curbed) charges may apply. Not applicable for smart repairs.
